  Description

As with other hake species, the name hake is used interchangeably in English speaking countries as "whiting" sells better than "hake" Technically, however, European hake is very similar to the Atlantic and Pacfic whiting. European hake grow to about 100 cm (3 ft) in length and weigh about 3 kg (10 lbs) Males of this species tend to be smaller than the females.
