  Description

As with other hake species the name hake is used interchangeably in English-speaking countries, as "whiting" sells better than "hake." White hake can grow as large as 1 m (3 ft) in length and weigh 10 to 15 kg (22 to 33 lbs). Because of its size white hake is also called steakfish in the United States.
